Here I am, still in the office on a Sunday afternoon debugging configuration problems of the demo currently in Taipei. Haven't eaten lunch yet, don't think I have the appetite after all the hassle of setting up my own little LAN here. Had conference with them starting from 11.00am, but didn't manage to have a solution for them, although my setup here works fine for Win98 to Win2000 Server. Setting up Win98 as the client is not a big task at all, as long as the IP and the logon method is correct. Over there they can't even ping the server! Asked them to debug the hardware first (network cable, network card, switch port), but they need to pack up by 2.00pm. Sheez... and they claimed they've set up the IP correctly...don't ever tell me that they've put the subnet mask wrong, I'll jump from Penang bridge if that's the case. Such simple things and they did not managed to set it up. If they've told me earlier that the expo place closes at 2.00pm, I would've asked them to call me at 5.00am and start debugging. Lepak kaki, have to wait till last minute to set up the stuff...sigh...
Now changing Win2000 Pro client to communicate with my Win2000 Server, seems that it managed to join the domain successfully. Yes! Managed to map the server folder! At least I can set up both the clients successfully...something learnt today...
I still don't understand why big boss wants to send a manager to do this kinda technical demo. I had to train him up for three days before he could get "a little bit" up to speed. (His technical competency??? He doesn't know how to change IP add in a Win2000 Pro system...) Duh...
